Alison M. Jones: Photo Gallery: KickStart, Kenya

WHILE documenting No Water No Life watersheds in Kenya during winter of 2012, Alison spent two days photographing for KickStart as she has done before. (See her photo with publicity for KickStart in 2006.) This organization has made great strides in reducing poverty in East Africa by providing inexpensive pumps operated without fuel or electricity for small-scale farmers. These pumps enable farmers to grow crops year-round now, not just in the rainy season. As well, KickStart is training its farmers how to adapt to climate change by planting trees and growing drought-tolerant crops.
